Overview

The Elephant Woven Paper Pet Basket is designed as both a comfortable resting space for cats and a decorative storage basket for the home.

Inspired by the gentle shape of an elephant, the basket features a rounded body, oversized ears, and a raised trunk, giving it a playful sculptural character while remaining easy to integrate into warm, natural interiors.

Its spacious open design is suitable for most cats, including larger adult cats, offering a cozy place for sleeping, resting, and observing the home. When it is not being used by your cat, the basket can also be used to store blankets, toys, and other everyday pet essentials.

A More Pet-Friendly Woven Material

Many traditional rattan-style baskets can become damaged when cats repeatedly scratch or pull at the woven surface. Once natural rattan strips break, they may leave hard or sharp ends. Some baskets also contain metal wire beneath the outer weave, which may become exposed as the surface wears over time.

This basket is woven primarily from kraft paper cord. The material is softer and more flexible than traditional rattan and is less likely to create hard, sharp splinters when worn or damaged.

The woven cords are closely interlaced throughout the basket, so damage to an individual strand is less likely to affect the stability of the entire structure. Limited metal reinforcement is used only around the base of the product, while the side walls do not contain an internal metal wire frame.

Although the kraft paper surface is not designed as a dedicated scratching post, its natural woven texture may also appeal to cats who enjoy lightly scratching or rubbing against textured surfaces.

Designed for Resting and Storage

The rounded basket provides an open and comfortable resting area that allows cats to curl up while still being able to observe their surroundings.

No cushion is included, allowing you to use the basket as it is or add your cat’s preferred blanket, mat, or removable cushion.

The approximately 4 kg / 8.8 lb product weight gives the basket a more substantial and stable feel during normal indoor use. Its dual-purpose design also helps it remain useful even when your cat is not resting inside.

Material Character

Each basket is handmade with woven kraft paper cord in its natural paper color.

Because of the woven construction and the natural characteristics of the material, slight variations in texture, shape, spacing, and color may occur between individual pieces. These differences are part of the handcrafted appearance of the product and do not affect its normal use.

This product is currently available only in the natural kraft paper color shown.

Care Instructions

This product is designed for indoor use only.

Avoid soaking the basket or placing it in areas with prolonged moisture or high humidity. For routine cleaning, gently remove dust and loose pet hair with a soft brush, dry cloth, or low-suction vacuum.

Small marks may be cleaned carefully with a slightly damp cloth. Do not wash the basket with running water, use harsh cleaning products, or leave the material wet after cleaning.

Regularly inspect the basket for excessive wear, exposed reinforcement, or heavily damaged sections, especially if your cat frequently scratches the surface.
